Sleight Farm on Film

This short farm-visit film features cheesemaker Mary Holbrook at her farm near Bath in Somerset.

Mary has her own herd of around a hundred mixed-breed goats. They are a motley crew, who she refers to as ‘the league of nations’.  With their milk she makes wonderful cheese; namely Tymsboro, Sleightlett, Cardo and Old Ford.

This film documents Mary’s approach to cheesemaking and farming. At the outset this appears largely circumstantial and a result of much trial and error. However, as we follow her around the farm (always out of breath and ten paces behind!), the true depth of her knowledge and experience reveals itself.  From her approach to managing the land, the unique aspects of her herd, the milk they give and the kinds of cheese she makes with it. We hope you enjoy watching it, and learning about another very special cheese.
