Our designer Harry Darby created this design to commemorate our 40th Birthday and we liked it so much we decided to have it printed on a tea towel. This is a set of two canvas tea towels, made by re-wrap, a social enterprise that creates organic, hand-crafted textiles, putting people and the environment first.

A member of the World Fair Trade Organisation, re-wrap pay their members a living wage with an annual bonus. Based in Mysore, India, re-wrap recycles wherever possible: they use fabric offcuts to strengthen the base of their products, weave waste cotton into bag handles, pack goods in recycled cartons, and support a local paper co-operative by providing them with 500kgs of fabric scraps every month from which they make labels and paper. All re-wrap’s products can also be recycled. The cotton used by re-wrap is 100% GOTS certified.

In re-wrap's own words:

“Our aim is to create sustainable livelihoods for rural women where employment opportunites are limited, to help them gain economic independence. By using organic farming methods farmers become more climate resilient, reduce carbon emissions and create healthier soil, and healthier people.”

“Authenticity and fair trade are achieved by adding the element of traceability to cotton from its origin; the seed, till it reaches the shop. Knowing how something is made, where and by whom, is at the root of the Seed-to-Shop initiative. To acquire this knowledge we build partnerships with every stakeholder (farmer to consumer) in the chain which helps us ensure ethical and fair trade practices are followed. There is no involvement of any chemical toxic to humans, animals or the environment at any stage of the entire Seed-to-Shop process”
