Typical Dairy Box contents:

We are using the box to deliver fresh goods that would have otherwise been supplied to restaurants, thus doing our best to continue to provide an outlet for our suppliers, and minimising food waste. Rest assured we will always send goods to the equivalent or greater value.

Lincolnshire Poacher (250g)

This cheddar style cheese typically has long, sweet pineapple flavours, but it can also be rich and savoury. Generally the texture is smooth, close, and densely creamy, almost like a Comté.

Neal's Yard Creamery Greek Style Yoghurt (480g)

A traditionally-made, live, thick set creamy yoghurt with a wonderful flavour. Rich, smooth texture with a creamy crust. Lemony, sharp flavours and a bright, lingering finish

Ivy House Full Fat Milk (2 x 1L)

Organic Jersey milk from a West Country farm. Rich and creamy, this milk is  unhomogenised, 4% fat with that layer of cream on top! We are currently freezing the milk and it will arrive frozen with you. This guarantees it arrives fresh and doesn't leak in transit, spoiling the other produce.

Keen's Moorhayes Salted Butter (1 roll, 250g)

This is a classic example of English farmhouse cultured whey butter. As the butterfat comes from the whey left after cheesemaking, rather than from cream it has a distinctive yoghurty, savoury flavour.

Cacklebean Eggs (1/2 dozen)

Cackleberry Farm is nestled at the foot of a hill just outside Stow-on-the-Wold. Run by Paddy and Steph Bourns, their rare breed flocks are entirely free range and live in traditional chicken houses on 12 acres of land, with lots of perches. Famed for their golden yolks, as soon as we began stocking them they became a firm favourite with chefs, our retail customers and for staff lunches.

Little Bread Pedlar Wholegrain Sourdough (1 loaf)

This loaf has a deep and complex flavour with a satisfying chew from the cooked whole grains. It incorporates stoneground British wholemeal flour and a mix of cooked whole wheat and rye grains, cracked wheat and various other grades of milled wheat and rye.

Lucky Dip (100g approx)

We have lots of exciting fresh goods which we would like to introduce you to, so we will send a sample-sized surprise in each box. Perhaps it will be a little wedge of cheese, a pot of our luscious double cream or a sample from our cold counter.

When will I receive my Dairy Box?
We dispatch Dairy Boxes on Wednesdays on a next day delivery service. We will notify you when it is dispatched and you will receive a two hour delivery window from our courier. Delivery is free to your door and uses environmentally friendly temperature controlled packaging

Payments are taken on a Monday, prior to dispatch on the Wednesday. You will receive a notification in advance of each payment being taken. You can choose to cancel your order at any time by contacting us, we just need 1 week's notice.

Why do you freeze the milk?
When Ivy House delivers their milk to us we put the milk destined for our Dairy boxes straight into the freezer. The boxes are delivered by courier, and by dispatching the milk frozen we ensure that there are no spillages that might damage the box contents.

Can you guarantee the eggs will arrive intact?
Under normal circumstances we do not sell eggs via our website as we cannot guarantee their safe passage by courier. However, we understand how difficult they are to get hold of at the moment and so we are hand-wrapping the eggs in bubble wrap before putting them in the egg boxes, as an extra layer of protection. In trials, we only lost one egg in 15 trial dairy boxes! That said, if you do receive a broken egg, do let us know and we will refund you the cost of the egg. If you are able to send us a photo please do, as this helps us understand what improvements we can make to prevent breakages in future.

How do you keep the contents cold in transit?
The Dairy Box is insulated with a wool liner specifically designed to deliver perishable goods in perfect condition. The wool is 100% low grade sheep wool that would otherwise be of minimal value to farmers. It is biodegradable and compostable and sealed within a recyclable plastic cover. Click here for more information on all the packaging we use and how to reuse or dispose of it.

If we deliver the Dairy box in our own vans, we won't need to use this packaging, as our vans are refrigerated.

Can I swap an item in the Dairy Box?
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate substitutions but you are welcome to add additional items to your order and we will dispatch them all together.

What if there is no-one in to receive the delivery?
The person receiving the delivery email/text notifications will have access to the 'leave in a safe place' option that the courier provides, and they can make an arrangement directly with the courier. Please do not choose the redelivery option as the Dairy Box will already have been picked up by the couriers and will remain in transit for an extended period. More information relating to courier deliveries can be found here.

Are delivery days/times guaranteed?
For most of our deliveries we use an external courier. In the vast majority of cases they do a wonderful job with deliveries arriving in the right place at the right time. As we are outsourcing the delivery, we cannot guarantee arrival times. If you have questions regarding your delivery or you would like us to liaise with the couriers on your behalf, please contact us.
