British Fondue Lunch
April 29 at 12:30 - 14:30£50
In this class we invite you to join us for a British fondue in our tasting room above our Borough Market shop. This is a hands-on social event for melted cheese lovers. We will start by tasting through a selection of cheeses representing different styles of traditional British cheese. Our speaker Estelle will guide you in what to consider with each cheese when cooking with it. We’ll also present you with a fondue recipe and a guide to fondue etiquette….both tried and tested by our own team of cheesemongers! Then in groups of 4 people, you will make a selection of 2 or 3 cheeses to add to a carefully selected base cheese and create your own fondue mix to enjoy with us. A selection of accompaniments will be available to dip in your fondue: sourdough bread, boiled potatoes, gherkins and cured meats.
You’ll be given a recipe card to take away with room to make your own notes. Estelle and another cheesemonger will be available throughout the session to assist you with cutting cheese and cooking your fondue. At the end of the session there will be the opportunity to buy cheese from the afternoon’s selection to take home. Attendees will be offered a 10% discount on all purchases made on the day, as well as a 10% discount in our online shop valid for one month.
This tasting is designed to serve as a lunch and includes a fondue meal as well accompaniments. There will be samples of 2 wines and a beer provided to give you an introduction to pairing cheese and beverages. As alcohol is served, all attendees must be over 18 years of age.
Estelle Reynolds joined Neal’s Yard Dairy in 2010 as a cheesemonger, having spent the previous 16 years managing pubs and restaurants. She has completed her Wine and Spirits diploma and has a passion for pairing food and drink, especially cheese and wine. Estelle has a broad knowledge of the cheeses we sell. She is particularly interested in exploring the fascinating batch and seasonal differences found in farmhouse cheese.
