This Month's Cheeses

The Neal’s Yard Dairy Subscription showcases three different cheeses each month, connected in some way by a location, season, recipe or occasion. For many of us, September will always be the start of a new year. That excited anticipation is still there, embedded in our formative years; yes, the summer may be ending, but that doesn’t mean we need to be glum. There is a renewed energy in the air and excitement for the autumn to come. To keep you buoyant, we have a special selection for September, including an exclusive cheese for our subscription. St James is a seasonal sheep’s milk cheese that is made from late spring to early autumn. Nearing the end of its season, soon this cheese will be gone from the slate, savour it with some honeyed greengages while they are ripe for picking. Stichelton is the perfect blue to enjoy on those in between days, with its umami, biscuity flavour, and pairs beautifully with dark, malty ales. Finally we have Cornish Kern, which is made by the team behind Cornish Yarg, and usually only available for our Wholesale customers. This caramelly, nutty cheese is not dissimilar to European mountain cheese in its flavour, but comes to us from a very different landscape on the coast of Cornwall. Enjoy it sliced, with some pickled walnuts or gherkins to contrast the sweet notes. By savouring this cheeseboard, you are helping to support the makers of British and Irish cheese, preserving time-honoured cheesemaking traditions and fostering exciting new ones, too. We hope you enjoy them.

About the Subscription Hub

The cheese we work with is strongly founded in a sense of community, from cheesemakers sharing recipes and tips, to the shared efforts of maturation between cheesemaker and affineur, to the departments within Neal's Yard Dairy tasting and talking about cheese together on a daily basis. The NYD subscription hub aims to bring this sense of community to our loyal subscription customers - a place to discover, discuss and delight in the cheeses you receive each month.
