This is a classic selection in many senses. It is made up of the classic cheeseboard format of a hard cheese, a soft cheese and a blue cheese. It also contains some of our most popular and quintessentially British cheeses.

FAQs

As a general rule of thumb, we would recommend roughly between 100 and 150 grams per person for after dinner, and a bit more if cheese is the focus of the meal. If you are buying cheese to serve over a couple of days or as part of a buffet, it is advisable to buy a few larger pieces. This will both look better and keep better than many small bits. To help visualise weights, a good tip is to consider that a regular supermarket pat of butter weighs between 200 and 250 grams. If you are at all unsure please give us a call for some advice.
The best option is to keep your cheese wrapped in its paper within a box in the fridge. This will prevent the cheese from drying out and absorbing other flavours. Your cheese will arrive wrapped in waxed cheese paper, which achieves the best possible balance between maintaining humidity around the cheese and allowing it to breathe. We are happy to provide some free extra cheese paper, just search for "cheese paper" and add it to your basket. We don't recommend cling film or foil as it can cause the cheese to sweat which will negatively affect the flavour.

Excellent cheese - fantastic packaging and delivery

I bought this selection to give some visitors a taste of a classic British cheeseboard. All three cheeses arrived in superb condition, nicely packaged and delivered on time. The Montgomery's cheddar was delicious - nutty and full flavoured with none of the "farmyard" notes that are sometimes associated with more rustic British hard cheeses. The Colston Bassett is a fantastically smooth creamy blue and a real favourite with everyone that tried. We enjoyed the Tunworth (particularly the kids) although it probably would have benefitted from being left out a bit longer before eating for a bit more flavour.

Classic selection

What a brilliant selection for a cheesaholic!!
Montgomery's cheddar has overtaken Hafod as my all time favourite cheddar, having a strength of character with a fruity after taste. Colston Bassett is by far and away the most beautiful and subtle flavoured Stilton. Tunworth was new to me and, although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I will be sticking to Camembert.
The special offer, including free delivery was a no brainer.

Perfect

Cheeses from Neal's Yard are always in perfect condition. These three were no exception and the classics of Colston Bassett stilton, Tunworth and Montgomery's cheddar cannot fail to please. I'd forgotten just how nice the Stilton was, having enjoyed Stitchelton for the past decade or so.
