Introduction to Cheese and Wine Pairing

7:00-9:00 pm.

In this class we will present you with a selection of 6 cheeses and samples of 6 wines. The cheese will represent various styles of cheese, from soft and fresh to firm, blue and mature, this will give you a broad spectrum for flavours, aromas and textures. The wines will also represent different styles: from light bodied dry whites to luscious viscous sweet wines. This selection will give you an equally broad spread of body, flavour and aroma.

You will be guided in how to taste and assess the cheeses and the wines, you will be given tasting sheets to make notes and prompt you in your assessment. We will also discuss the principles in successfully pairing cheese and wine. We will then taste various combinations of the cheeses and wine samples we have to hand, examining the validity and reality of our assessments and the theory of the pairings. This is an introductory class and is intended to be a dynamic and interactive session.

This tasting is designed to serve as a light meal and includes a cheese plate as well as bread, crackers and accompaniments. The cheeses will be paired with a few accompaniments and samples of up to 6 wines to give you an insight into cheese and wine pairings. Attendees will be offered a 10% discount valid for one month on cheese purchases made in our shops or online. As alcohol is served, all attendees must be over 18 years of age.
