Next to commercial oatmeal, the original Macroom Oatmeal from County Cork, Ireland is almost another product altogether. Roasted for two full days before being milled using traditional stone-grinding methods, this oatmeal makes delicious toasty oatcakes and biscuits and adds a satisfyingly nutty texture to bread. It shines, however, in the simplicity of a perfect porridge, topped with brown sugar and cream.
