Along the way our speaker, Srdja, will guide you through the journey of cheesemaking. Starting from cheesemaking post World War Two, you will travel through the low points of the 80s, the New Wave in the 90s, where we stand today and - perhaps most importantly - the future. You'll be given a tasting sheet with room to make notes, as well as suggested pairings to guide you as you explore which combinations you best enjoy. Attendees will be offered a 10% discount on all purchases made in the shop within a month, as well as a 10% discount in our online shop valid for one month.
This tasting is designed to serve as a light supper and includes a cheese plate as well as bread, crackers and accompaniments. There will be samples of cider, beer and natural wine provided to give you an introduction to pairing cheese with beverages. As alcohol is served, all attendees must be over 18 years of age.
Every cheese monger at Neal’s Yard Dairy has a lightbulb moment. For Srdja it was the buttery crumble of Kirkham’s Lancashire and meeting Graham Kirkham. The realisation of what goes in to producing outstanding cheese, the lifestyle, the hard work and the total commitment to doing one thing amazingly well, convinced Srdja to give up his career in film to pursue a life in cheese. Fifteen years, many cheese competitions and medals later, Srdja now heads up the wholesale team at the Dairy. His favourite snack is still a Staffordshire oatcake with melted Lancashire cheese. Join him for a tasting and stories of life in the farmhouse lane.
