The Cheesemonger's Selection

7:30-9:00 pm.

For this cheese class we invite you to join Jamie in our Borough Market shop after hours. The session will involve tasting different profiles of cheese from the really young and fresh up to some of our most mature cheeses, touching on the different styles, milks and techniques involved in making them.

Along the way our cheesemongers will guide you in what to consider when selecting cheese and how to curate the perfect cheeseboard for you. You'll be given a tasting sheet with room to make notes and at the end of the session there will be the opportunity to buy cheese from the evening's selection to take home.

This tasting will include samples of 9 cheeses, a cheese plate of 3 cheeses with bread or crackers and accompaniments. There will be samples of 3 beverages provided to give you a beginner's insight into pairing cheese with beer and wine. As alcohol is served, all attendees must be over 18 years of age. This is a standing event in our shop after hours. The temperature in our shop is on average 16oC, to ensure your comfort, you may wish to bring an extra layer.

Jamie started working in cheese 8 years ago, selling Marcel Petit Comté in Borough Market. He was blown away by the quality and diversity in one cheese. However, there was always this shop in Borough Market that dwarfed him... Neal's Yard Dairy. After 2 years working with one affineur in the Jura and one cheese, he decided it was time to make a break and approached Neal's Yard Dairy. He started part-time mongering for a year whilst pursuing other interests until cheese overcame him and he realised it was his life! And here he is today, taking care of domestic retail wholesale and what we glamorously call 'Rest of the World', meaning anything that's not Europe or America.
