Buying Administrator (Full-time)
Neal’s Yard Dairy is an independent business that has been maturing, selecting and selling artisan cheeses from Britain and Ireland since 1979. We aim to reinvigorate the British and worldwide artisan cheese industry by challenging the way people expect to buy and sell cheese: selling by flavour and quality above price or marketing. As leaders within our industry, we sell the finest cheeses to our customers within the UK and around the world.
The role
The Buying Administrator plays a pivotal role in the smooth running of the Buying Team’s activities. The focus of the role is to provide a broad range of administrative support that ensures the accurate ordering, coordination and stock control of all resale items at Neal’s Yard Dairy.
This is a highly organised, detail-driven role with a strong emphasis on database-led tasks, routine processes and clear communication. You will work closely with suppliers and colleagues across multiple departments, helping to keep information flowing and systems running reliably.
The role includes a high degree of structured, recurring tasks (weekly, monthly, bi-annual and annual), alongside the need to respond flexibly to changing priorities as they arise.
About you

- Comfortable multitasking and adapting to changing priorities
- Proactive and self-reliant in anticipating and resolving problems
- Happy working with a high level of routine and clearly defined processes
- Interested in food and current food trends – cheese experience is not essential, but enthusiasm for our mission to improve British cheese very much is
- Strong numeracy and written communication skills, demonstrated through work experience or equivalent learning (a business-related qualification would be an advantage)
- Competent in Excel and other Microsoft products including Word, Outlook and Teams
- Able to work on-site Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, with occasional flexibility depending on business need
- Able to work occasional weekend days (approximately 6 per year) in order to support stocktakes
