Wholesale and Ecommerce Cheesemonger - Permanent, Full Time
We are looking for a Wholesale & Ecommerce Cheesemonger to join our Production Team based in Bermondsey, London.
Our Wholesale & Ecommerce Cheesemongers handle around 80% of the cheese sold at Neal’s Yard Dairy for UK and export customers. Handling and packing this volume of cheese is physically demanding and requires precision and attention to detail to ensure every order reaches customers in optimum condition. From selection at farms through maturation, a lot of care goes into every cheese we sell, and our Wholesale & Ecommerce Cheesemongers make sure that care is reflected in every order.
Based at our Bermondsey maturing arches, the role involves early starts (4.00am on rotation), occasional weekend work from September to December, standing for long periods, and moving heavy cheeses. You will also work in a temperature-controlled environment, which can be cold. There is full on-the-job training, ample opportunity to learn about cheese and Lean production methods, and the chance to contribute to continuous improvement of our working processes.
We are looking for self-motivated, deadline- and target-focused people who enjoy routine and repetition-based tasks. You’ll need to be committed to delivering excellence and have a keen eye for detail. If you enjoy a busy team environment and have an appetite to learn, you will do well in this role. A GCSE pass (or equivalent) in Maths and good computer literacy are required. While cheese experience is an advantage, previous experience in warehouse, production, retail, or hospitality will also put you in good stead. A good command of English is essential.
We would strongly recommend you check your commute around the early hours of the day and make sure you are able to make it to Bermondsey in good time for a 4.00am start before you apply.
