Made by Tim Fisher at Butler's Farmhouse Cheese
Preston, Lancashire
The traditional Normandy method for making Camembert stipulates that some of the cream be skimmed off before cheesemaking and used to make the butter for which that region of France is famed. No fat is removed prior to making Tunworth, which is why the resulting cheese is particularly rich.
Developed by Stacey Hedges and Charlotte Spruce of Hampshire Cheese, this British Camembert is made by hand. Neal's Yard Dairy was heavily involved in the development of the cheese, from travelling with the cheesemakers to visit Camembert producers in Normandy, to experimenting with different maturation techniques at our facility in London. It is now made by Tim Fisher at Butler's Farmhouse Cheese in Lancashire.
Tunworth is stored in its waxed paper and wooden box in our cold rooms to ensure an even and controlled breakdown of the paste.
Good quality, fast delivery
Best Camembert style of cheese, made with finest full cream milk but in Britain not France. Another of the brilliant cheeses made in Britain and Ireland even if it uses the starter used in Normandy. The only style of cheese I still buy that’s imported is Parmigano Regiano
One of the best cheeses in Britain!
