He will explain how Neal's Yard Dairy selects their cheese, the unique and integral relationships we have with the cheese makers, and how we work together to maintain classic styles and refine new recipes. Finally, he'll explain the decisions made to determine the destination of each cheese; be it on "the slate" in our London shops or shipped around the world to fellow cheesemongers.
This class will be hosted in the Tasting Room above our Borough Market shop. It is designed to serve as a light meal. Jamie will present 6-8 cheeses in a buffet style, with bread, crackers and accompaniments. There will be samples of 2 to 3 ciders and/or Pomona, to give you an introduction to pairing cheese with beverages. As alcohol is served all attendees must be over 18 years of age. Attendees will be offered a 10% discount code valid for one month on cheese purchases made in our shops or online.
Jamie started working in cheese 8 years ago, selling Marcel Petit Comté in Borough Market. He was blown away by the quality and diversity in one cheese. However, there was always this shop in Borough Market that dwarfed him........Neal's Yard Dairy. After 2 years working with one affineur in the Jura and one cheese, he decided it was time to make a break and approached Neal's Yard Dairy. He started part-time mongering for a year whilst pursuing other interests until cheese overcame him and he realised it was his life! And here he is today, taking care of domestic retail wholesale and what we glamourously call 'Rest of the World', meaning anything that's not Europe or America.Print this page
