Cheesemongers' Choice Selection

Cheesemongers' Choice Selection

It is safe to assume that working at Neal's Yard Dairy means you are going to enjoy a cheeseboard or two, and an important part of our day is tasting cheese.

This selection is made up of the cheeses our team has been enjoying recently, the standouts from an already delicious bunch. Picked by our ecommerce team with Spring in mind, we hope you enjoy them too.

*Please note that the selection contains Gorwydd Caerphilly, and not Stonebeck Wensleydale as pictured.

Daria's Choice:

Riseley is my addition to our latest Cheesemonger's Choice Selection. Each cheese is washed by hand in a brine solution multiple times a week until the rind develops its beautiful pink-orange hue and rich, salty flavours. I recently spent a morning with our Maturing Team to get hands-on experience with the washing process. The time and care that goes into each cheese is impressive and yields delicious results!

Amy's choice:

For this selection I have picked Gorwydd Caerphilly, which is made by the Trethowan Brothers in Somerset. Its the perfect cheese for Spring, with a curdy lemony paste that softens as it ages. Gorwydd's rind also has wonderfully mushroomy notes, giving a wonderful balance of flavours. I feel Caerphilly is a territorial we sometimes take for granted, and I hope you enjoy this crowd pleaser.

Miranda's choice:

I have gone for Templegall, a deliciously moreish cheese from Co. Cork.  This seasonally made cheese, has an amazing toasted sesame, caramel,  sweet and salty flavour, and never hangs around on a cheeseboard. I enjoy it best by itself in chunks, with some gherkins or pickled onions to complement the sweet notes of the cheese.

Magda's choice:

My favourite cheese at the moment has to be the mini Baron Bigod from Fen Farm Dairy. This "baby" version of their beloved brie style cheese, is the perfect size for sharing, with its rich creamy texture and brothy, artichoke flavours.  I always like to get one (or two!) as a weekend treat.
